The legend of Urashima TaroThe Japanese press has now released official information on Tackey’s new January 2009 musical Shinshun Takizawa Kakumei (新春滝沢革命 - “Takizawa’s New Year’s Revolution”). The english reading is presumably a play on words, as are most show titles, as in Tackey’s New Year’s Resolution. It’s kinda clever really.

As reported below, the musical opens on January 1st, 2009 in Tokyo’s Imperial Theatre – the home of SHOCK and Dream Boys – and forms the final part of this “trilogy” of theatrical events at the Imperial Theatre from Johnny’s Entertainment.

Shinshun Takizawa Kakumei is an original musical in two acts,. The first act incorporating Japanese folklore such as The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter (竹取物語 - Taketori Monogatari) and The Legend of Urashima Tarou (浦島太郎). In the second act, entitled “Future 2060″, Tackey will appear on stage made up as an 80-year-old man confronting the end of the world. The show will be the first New Year’s Day performance at the Imperial Garden Theater since its reopening in 1966. Continue reading ‘Tackey’s new musical - “Takizawa Kakumei” announced’

Takizawa Revolution?Out of the blue, fan club members in Japan are reporting that they have just received notification of a new stage show with a message from Tackey himself.

The message read:

Hello. Next year from January 1st at the Teikoku Gekijo (the Imperial Theatre in Tokyo), a new stage show will start. Eh? From the 1st January. Is it true? From the 1st January let’s go! Also, please look forward to my new drama (Kokuchi Sezu).

The new stage show is rumoured to be titled “Takizawa Revolution” and star Tackey and the Juniors. The speculation is that because the Kinki Kids are touring this year, Koichi was unable to mount the traditional season of SHOCK at the Imperial Theatre, and this new show starring Tackey is taking its place. There are to be 38 performances, from January 1 - 27, 2009, with balloting for tickets to end soon. Where this leaves future performances of Enbujou, or Tackey & Tsubasa unit activities (especially the traditional Christmastime arena shows) is unclear. However, a January butai would be a great place to sell newly minted copies of this year’s Takizawa Enbujou DVD!

We are awaiting further news of more developments.

Takizawa HideakiAn airdate for Tackey’s new medical drama special, Kokuchi Sezu (告知せず), has finally been announced.

The drama will air from 21:00 on Saturday, 15th November 2008 on TV Asahi as the network’s 5oth Anniversary Special drama. Tackey co-stars with veteran actor Tetsuya Watari as Hasegawa Ryo, a young intern, whose mother is diagnosed with cancer. You can read more about the drama here. TV Asahi have updated their Kokuchi Sezu website with the new air date.

The picture at left has absolutely nothing to do with the drama, but it’s Tackey, he’s wearing white, and he could be an intern (a very hot itern). You can click on the picture to see/download a larger version.

Dark Tsubasa threw open his wings again in Tokyo last night, as World’s Wing Premium opened successfully and without incident at the Nissay Theatre.

Remembering last year’s Tokyo opening night, where Tsubasa tumbled down the stairs and injured his foot, fans across the world breathed a sigh of relief.

Early reports are that the show is slightly tweaked compared to the earlier run in Osaka in August (you can read a review of the August season, listen to music samples and see pics here).

Light Tsubasa has a new theme song, “Shout shout”, with “Beyond the Sky” now being moved to the second act concert segment with colourful new costumes. And it has emerged that the two seasons are thematically contrast – at least in terms of the merchandise on sale at the theatre.

Best Stage Nov08Look at Star Nov 08

As promised in the post below, here are the download links for the interior shots of Tsubasa’s spreads in Look at Star and Best Stage (covers available to download in the post below this one).

The two photo spreads are very different. The Look at Star essay is all black and white – featuring an elegant, clean-shaven Tsubasa in a simple black suit and white hat, showered with black and white feathers. The Best Stage feature is much more earthy and relaxed – almost bohemian. We just showed both to our friend Kazu-san and he very definitely went for Bohemian Tsubasa. LOL!

You can download them for yourself here.
