Edited 22 August: Shooting for Kokuchi Sezu has now moved to Guam for a 6 day location shoot. One of our readers, Therese, was lucky enough to attend the shooting at the Hyatt Hotel. You can read her comments below.
Tackey is set to co-star in a medical drama called Kokuchi Sezu, (告知せず) literally “Without Notice.” Directed by Kiyoshi Sasabe, filming began at the end of July and is due to wrap by the end of September.
Tackey will play Hasegawa Ryo, a young intern, whose mother is diagnosed with cancer.
His father Seiji, played by veteran actor Tetsuya Watari (who played Heike leader Taira no Kiyomori in Tackey’s Yoshitsune), stars as a surgeon who constantly deals with cancer patients. His personal philosophy is to openly inform those patients of their illness and to fight with them until the end, but he finds himself wavering when the patient is his own wife, Toko (Atsuko Takahata).
Watari himself is familiar with facing cancer. When he was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 1991, he publicly announced it, and fortunately he underwent a successful operation.
The TV Asahi drama special is expected to air later this year, but a date has not yet been announced.

I’m not sure where I should write this, so I’ll just put it here. Tackey’s here on Guam again! He was shooting a drama scene (I think) at the hyatt earlier today. Two of my friends were extras on the set so me & my other friend just sat in the lobby & watched (actually we might be included in the scene too!). He’s shorter than I imagined but just as cute! He was acting out a scene where he was talking to one of the hyatt employees with a confused looking older lady tailing behind them.
I don’t know how long he’s staying but a couple other girls I know are gonna be in a (music video?) that they’re shooting on Sunday. I wanna go watch that too!

I’ve moved your comment here, because the drama Tackey is shooting at the moment is called Kokuchi Sezu. His character is called Hasegawa Ryo. You can read the synopsis above, so maybe you’ll be able to get more of an idea of what’s happening in the scenes you are in. Everyone is very excited to see Tackey in a drama about a young doctor, and it looks like you and your friends are getting a sneak preview. So… take notes!!!!

oh! so that’s what the drama is about, we were wondering what kind of scene they would be shooting here. so i’m guessing that the confused looking lady that was following him was his cancerous mother? i’m excited to watch that drama now! i dont know if i’m gonna be in it, but my friends were perfectly angled with the camera.
do you know if he’s releasing a new single or something? cause my other friend told me that there’s a music video shoot tomorrow or something.

i’m sure that you’ll meet him one day. I’ve just gotten lucky, cause alot of japanese celebrities come for like photoshoots and whatever. this lady i know who used to live in japan said that she’s met more japanese celebrities living here than over there.
this is actually the second time that i know of him comming to Guam (he came around this time last year), i was so heartbroken when i missed him the first time (my other friends got to meet him and asked him for a picture but he declined.) They said that that they found him at Marc Jacobs and that he was easy to spot cause he was in typical celebrity gear (hat & sunglasses indoors) haha.

Thanks so much for the extra info. Tsubasa’s been making all the running lately, so it’s great to have such a personal report of what Tackey’s currently up to as well. Thank you so much for filling us in. And yeah, the folks in Guam and Hawaii get to see more of the Johnnys than their own mothers lately. It’s a good spot to be.
Yes, perhaps you have indeed seen “Tackey’s cancerous mother”. LOL. I’m sure it will all end badly. The drama will be approaching its tearful end, and you and your friends will be going, “thats’ YOU! That’s your arm! That’s your FOOT!!! That’s US!
As for the Music Video… there was definitely talk that Tackey and Tsubasa would have maybe a new single, or even an album, before the end of the year. But it’s all been a bit vague. Maybe you have a real scoop there. And as for the photographs. I know that Johnny’s Jimusho is very strict about not allowing their stars to have happy snaps with the fans. So unfortunately maybe Tackey was unable to allow a photograph.
Keep us updated if you hear any more. It’s all very exciting!

haha… hopefully… even i doubt it, considering where i am living and takki hates long hours flight… i mean, i met lots other stars more than him… i even now can have a casual talk with Rain (Bi) for always bump into him around europe and asia, i even met tsubasa in spain! those were all coincidently, not on purpose looking for them. my intention and purpose will always be for takki but it’s the hardest… i don’t need to meet any other star, i want to meet takki… sob, sob…

quite a lot, as my work involves lots of traveling… i don’t really care actually, i mean at my age now, as if seeing people like kame or jin from kattun or the whole bunch of glay is not a big deal anymore. i saw kimutaku at the airport last month. i’m already used to it. if i was 15 or 16, then may be i would go scream over them. as for rain, i don’t know what kind of fate between us, he always there when i was in ‘trouble’. i didn’t even notice he was rain on our 1st met, may be that’s why he feels easy every time we bump into each other. still, yes, i’m so jealous of you!!! i want to see takki! it drives crazy every time i heard someone met takki… and there was that time when we were at the same airport at the same time, i didn’t even know about it till the next day! i was crying out of my lungs because of it… me and takki = ill-fate… :(
wow you seem to be living my dream life right now! I want to travel alot! But i think that i’m still a long way from that right now. & because of my age I would probably become a nervous wreck seeing those people ever!

Ha ha.”The Wiggles” and I have a mutual friend, so they do sometimes turn up at parties and stuff. It always amazes me that they are so well known around the world. They were just a bunch of college friends who got together to do kids songs many years ago. But there are no Rains or Takkis at my local supermarket, that’s for sure!

thanks therese for the update! i believe today is the last for the filming and I so much want to be there and see it for myself. I’m even willing to take a day off just to see Tackey! I mean come on now…when does one get to see a hot, nihongin cutie on Guam? From what I read on an article in a Guam paper (thanks to a link on the forum), it seems the video is just going to be some publicity bit for Guam with Takki as MC. (sobs: just when my hopes were up!)
oh, i thought it’s gonna be some new PVs aor something like that… but well, as long as i can see takki.

Thanks for the information, I have been waiting too long for his new drama. Somehow I am a little dispointed by SP. Does SP meean short series usually 1-2 episodes? But anyway it’s really a pleasure to watch his drama. Looking forward to seeing him on TV more often.

I think the “SP” designation usually means a “Special”. So yeah, usually only a couple of episodes at most.
I’m with you. Oh how we wish for Tackey to star in a proper, 10-11 episode drama series, because he is so good at nurturing a long-running character. He has featured in so many fantastic drama series. We’d love another “Majou no Jouken” or “Taiyo no Kisetsu”. Even “Yoshitsune” (although I think that series took him out of circulation a bit too long — still I was in love with that). But a long-running series with a story you can sink your teeth into, and a character that he could create and develop and the viewing public could get to know. That would be wonderful. But lately he has definitely done many “SPs”.
Still, we are grateful for whatever we can get.
that’s right guys! 5 SPs in the row! and when is his last normal 10/11 episodes drama? 5 years ago! taiga drama like yoshitsune is good for japan viewers, but to let more people to know him, we need more normal 10/11 episodes dramas. i know, 13 years is a long time, and with 23 dramas under his belt, he already had his peak. but i want him to bounce again! t&t needs a super killer song and super killer drama!

anyway I will watch it no matter what..as takki is in it.
it will be great to see tackey as a doctor he usually plays high school guys. so it will be great to see him play a doctor.
