There has been a lot of interest in the Johnny’s fan community regarding an english-subbed version of the 2001 drama Neverland, as it stars so many popular Johnnys. Tsubasa stars alongside V6’s Miyake Ken, KAT-TUN’s Tanaka Koki, Kanjani Eight’s Murakami Shingo and Ikuta Toma. But one existing version was very badly edited and mixed up, with many parts missing, and thus was unwatchable.
I decided to compare the malaysian english subbed version with my original official box set from Japan, and try and return the subbed series to its original order. I also separated it back out into 11 episodes. I also discovered that the Malaysian subbed version had some extra scenes not on the original DVD release.

You make it sound like such a simple task to fix the episodes for this…and I know it was NOT a simple thing to do. I appreciate your great effort to get this out and available in a form that is watchable. I’ve already got 2 copies burned on disc of Neverland: one raw and one subbed. As it turned out, even the raw version had problems and the subbed one–I never made it past episode one because of the huge gap missing in episode 2 of what I had downloaded. However, seeing only episode 1 made me want to watch this drama more than ever.

Thanks. Though I can’t really say it was a terrible hardship — sitting there in front of all those pretty, angsty Johnnys — in STEREO! But it WAS very confusing. At random times the subbed version seemed to go off to episode 3, or episode 6 or back to episode 2. I just really felt like the series deserved to be up in its original order so that people could enjoy it. So it was worth the effort.
Once you get past the melodramatic opening and the weirdo music, it really gets you in. I thought all the guys were really good in this. Its like a big, long fanfic — tortured angsty boys overcome their demons and become best friends!
OMG, can’t believe that I finally can with this drama with sub. I’ve been trouble over should I watch it w/o sub or not.
Tsubasa is super cute, I’m so taken by his angelic look ^^
The actress acts as his girlfriend is so lucky, she was in “Majo no Jouken” with Takki. She’s quite cute though so I don’t mind seeing some intimate scenes.

Thank you so much for leaving a comment. We’re very happy to be able to provide the subs. Yes, Tsubasa is unbelievably gorgeous in this series. I think whoever shot it was very clever at maximising that — filming the actors in soft half light or a wafting breeze — they really do look pretty hot.

I must admit, it probably took me until the second episode to really get into it. The freaky stuff in the forest and the melodramatic music had me wondering for a while. I think the series really settles into its own after that, so I’m sure you will continue to get drawn in by the Shoraikan-tachi and their stories. I loved this drama (and those boys) by the end.
I’m really glad it’s finding the new audience that it deserves. All that Johnnys goodness has been too hard to find for too long. Thank you for writing. It’s absolutely our pleasure.

If you are happy to do all that work, I say GO FOR IT!!!! We would just like to see it spread far and wide so more people who are not fluent in Japanese can enjoy it. I just clicked on the link above for Chapter 3 part 2 (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KTT0CUMO) and it happily started downloading. I have not heard of anyone else having problems, so maybe check your link and… just keep trying.
However, if all else fails, I do have a friend who is taking on the task of uploading the subs to Mediafire (we have lousy upload speeds here) and she hopes to be finished over the next few weeks. I will report back here (or she can ‘hint: hint’) when it’s up on MF.

Hi! I wanted to touch base with you on Neverland. I am uploading the final chapter now. I had not viewed it until I got it ready to upload and checked it for size, etc. I thought I’d mention that the final episode does have a black box set in to it where the subs show up. As far as I know this is the only episode to have this. (I’ve only watched thru chapter 3.) I double checked my version of the mixed up one and its final chapter had the same box. I don’t know if there is a way to remove the box and leave the subs. Probably not as I tried it in 3 different players and couldn’t find any button or whatever to remove it. Does anyone know if there is a way to move the box lower on the screen? If so, this would be very helpful because that box sometimes covers too much of lovely Tsubasa ^_^

yeah I’m glad you mentioned this, I should have done so beforehand (or it’s a test to see if people are paying attention ^_^). There I was nearing the end of my project, in a happy state because it was nearly done, and suddenly all the subs have this GIANT BLACK BOX!!!! I was like “whaaaaaaaa”. Called my friend and said, “there’s this GIANT BLACK BOX under the subtitles! This sucks!” Unfortunately, that is the way it is. It’s hard-coded onto the episode. A bit of a bummer I know.
I can only recommend one tracks down a raw version of the episode and watch them in tandem. Maybe I should load up a pretty, raw version to compensate. Whaddaya think?
It is so weird that it is only in the last episode. WHY? Oh why?? LOL I pulled my raw version today as well but right now my computer is refusing to recognize that the cd is in the slot. I think it is not liking the humidity. If I were talented (and that’s a big IF), then I would handwrite out those subs, type them up and do the timing and set them in the raw version. But I have no clue how to do something like that and since I have not been able to make pretty icons, I doubt that I could do subbing.

On the subject of Neverland, just thought I’d let you know that I’m in Osaka at the moment (getting ready for Tackey and Tsubasa’s final concerts of the tour) and I was channel surfing late last night, and there was Neverland!!! The episode where Tsubasa’s (Yoshikuni’s) father turns up.
During the episode I saw 2 different Hey!Say!Jump commercials, Aiba and Nino and the shovels, Junichi Okada’s commercial, an ad for Yamapi’s new Kurosagi movie (which we’re seeing today) and the ad where Toma is wolfing down KFC. It was a Johnny’s-heavy late night spot. Sugoi!
Ursula! That is beyond cool LOL Seeing the brand new Kurosagi movie in a Japanese theatre–sweet!! When we run a subscription to that nippontv thing, we love watching the commercials; can’t say the same thing about the cms here :p
