World’s Wing birthday party update:
Updated 18th October: Everyone seems to have slightly different recollections… LOL… but here is a quick rundown of Tsubasa’s birthday celebrations at yesterday’s show.

Tackey came to the show, as well as Tsubasa’s mother, father, sister and niece. Tackey sat in the GC level of seats (the second floor seating area - like the dress circle), an intimate seating section of only a couple of rows, and was ushered in and out quickly after the lights went down. Tackey’s hair is lighter red/brown again and he was wearing dark-rimmed glasses, a grey coat, white T and black/grey worn jeans with a studded belt. How lucky were the fans sitting up there?

In the MC segment, Tsubasa motioned up to the GC section saying he saw (”smelled”) someone who looks like his aikata-kun, and the lights picked out Tackey. Much screaming ensued and Tsubasa teased Tackey about staying awake. The spotlight kept going back to Tackey and Tsubasa eventually complained that they would have to take the lights off Tackey or he would keep hogging all the attention.

During Tsubasa’s final thankyous to the audience,  he said that even though they would continue to work hard on their solo activities, Takitsuba was still the most important thing, somehow trying to answer all the concern among the fans lately.

At the end of the show the curtain didn’t come down as usual and the Juniors rolled on two big cakes topped with fruit and candles – one said “Happy Birthday to Tsubasa from Tacky” and the other one was from the Staff and Cast. Then the whole audience sang Happy Birthday. Tsubasa blew out the candles and then plucked a strawberry off one of the cakes and tried to pop it in Tackey’s mouth, but he ran away all embarrassed saying people would get the wrong idea. So Tsubasa ate the strawberry himself.

There were also two presents (a large box and a smaller box) wrapped in red paper. Tsubasa got down and started enthusiastically ripping off the wrapping paper to reveal a Mamagoto set (like a children’s kitchen play set). Tackey said that because Tsubasa loved food/to cook this would be something he and his niece could play with together and Tsubasa joked that if he kept it at his house, people would think he was weird. How gorgeous is that? It’s like the perfect gift. In the second smaller box was some extra play food for the playset, which Tackey joked was “sold separately”.

Then Tackey said he had a letter from someone important (without mentioning who)  and of course everyone thought (hoped) he meant himself. But he started reading something ambiguous about thanks for coming to the hospital with me, and in the end revealed that the letter was from Tsubasa’s mother. They mentioned how the first time he asked Tsubasa’s mother to write a letter two years ago, she was a little nervous, but this time she was easier to convince. Then Tackey just wanted to shake Tsubasa’s hand but Tsubasa wrapped him in a hug instead – awwwwww! They talked about their solo activities again and Takizawa Revolution, still in the planning stages, joked about all the hard work, and Tsubasa confirmed he wanted to come to TakiRev. Then Tsubasa said again that he looked forward to their next unit activities, but didn’t actually know when that would be (!!!), followed by disgruntled “eeeeeeeeeeee-ing” from the audience. So it doesn’t sound like there is anything concrete planned in the near future (eeeeeeeee?)

In other news, it seems Tatsumi (aka “dark Tsubasa”) was sleeping at Tsubasa’s place on 16th? Those two are getting pretty pally. I saw them coming out of the theatre together quite late after another show, and they also went on a lengthy holiday together recently. So they are becoming quite an item. They drank champagne after midnight and made rice balls which they ate on the way into the theatre, according to Tsubasa.

I’m sure there will be heaps more reports around the blogs as fans come down from the high. And we can only speculate on the after-show celebrations. It sounds like it was going to be a wonderful night!

Congratulations to Tsubasa on the occasion of his 27th birthday. As he takes the stage today for his most challenging and successful role yet, we send him all our warmest wishes for an exhilarating show and a joyous and wonderful birthday, showered in the love and admiration of his fans, friends and family. He can be very proud that his hard work, determination and passion have produced the World’s Wing we see today, and we know that he will only get better and better in the years to come.
